Synopsis

The Dark Wolf and the Cub's short stories are written by Dark Wolf, a sixteen year old werewolf, who has been adopted by Rob and Anne. The stories themselves deal with the interaction of the character Dark Wolf with a group of young people that belong to a military based youth group, or two or more members of that group. The boy's own story and how he meets Rob, precedes the four short stories.

There are four short stories in the book and these are:

Story One - The Adventures of Dark Wolf and the Cubs - The Terrorist Attack

This story introduces the character of Dark Wolf, and he creates two cubs after the two boys see him in the fur, so to speak. The three werewolves rescue the group from a bunch of terrorists who had followed the group members to their camping spot. Dark Wolf also reveals his other persona to his long time friend and assistant.

Story Two - Dark Wolf and the Cubs meet the Warlock

This second story is set on a large property, where Dark Wolf and the cubs are setting out a large exercise. Firstly they meet an interesting man with two sons, who is not what he seems. Next they find a plane wreck, containing boxes and other interesting items. In the process of finding the wreck, they also uncover, abducted teenagers being used as slave labour in a mine on the property. This yarn utilises some interesting characters from Rob's previous books. I have used them with his permission. The character Shadow/Little Jack is quite cute and full of surprises.

Story Three - Dark Wolf Reflects

The third in the series is a flash back to Dark Wolfs earlier life. On a camping trip he is asked by the cubs to tell them about his early life and how he was made a werewolf. In the process of telling the story the three are called on to assist the local ranger and policeman, who you met in story two, find two missing children and a large feral animal which is killing stock and wildlife. The feral turns out to be a genetically engineered werewolf. The feral and its maker kidnap the two cubs and their parents, but Dark Wolf comes to the rescue.

Story Four - Dark Wolf and the Cubs - The Third Cub.

This yarn deals with Lochy. Lochy is the cousin of the Dark Wolfs cubs and has moved in with them following his father's death from cancer. Lochy is obsessed with becoming a werewolf, and he finds a footprint belonging to Dark Wolf and tries to find the werewolf so he can ask it to bite him. The four get involved with the investigation of werewolf attacks on campers in Victorian National Parks. The ending is very sad so have the tissues ready.
